“It was a lifesaver for me – what a truly wonderful service to have available and the support of the team at such a vulnerable time of your life.” ESA Wig and Turban recipient.
Dealing with hair loss is a very individual experience; some people like to wear a wig while others find hats, scarves and turbans to be more comfortable and attractive. Deciding what is right for you is the most important thing.

Where can I find the service?
Cancer Council Queensland provides face to face appointments in a variety of places in Queensland and online virtual appointments. The days and hours of operation are specific to each location. Call Cancer Council 13 11 20 to find out when a service is available near you or online.
Online virtual appointments ensure people can have an appointment regardless of where they are, where they live or how they are feeling on the day. All that’s needed is a computer, phone or tablet and Microsoft Teams to connect. Assistance is available if you need support to access the online appointment.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. The service is by appointment only. The service is run by volunteers, and this helps us to make sure we have a volunteer available and have wigs of your choice prepared for you in advance.
When you call 13 11 20 to book an appointment you will be asked about what type of wig you would like e.g., length, colour and style. Volunteers than prepare a selection of wigs for your appointment to meet your individual preferences.
For all appointments people can include family members or other supporters. Family, friends and other supporters can attend in person or be included online.
Call Cancer Council Queensland 13 11 20 to book your appointment.
