Cancer Council Queensland has opened a pop-up store on Brisbane’s northside to help with demand for its quality sun protection products over the peak summer period.
The shop – located on the ground floor of Toombul Shopping Centre (Shop 14, next to the newsagency) – is now open and will operate until February 2.
The pop-up shop is stocking a wide range of sun protective clothing, sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, accessories, umbrellas, cosmetics and gifts, including Cancer Council’s new spring range.
Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan said the charity was excited to open the pop-up store at Toombul Shopping Centre.
“Our new pop-up retail store at Toombul Shopping Centre will be open seven days a week, giving locals the freedom to shop quickly and locally for their sun protection essentials and take home with them what they need, when they need it,” Ms McMillan said.
Queensland has the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and sun protection is required when the UV Index level is three or above – in Queensland, that is all year round.
“With UV levels rising, it’s crucial that Queenslanders stock up on their sun protection essentials – it’s imperative we all Slip on protective clothing, Slop on SPF30 or above broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen, Slap on a broad-brimmed hat, Seek shade and Slide on wrap-around sunnies when out and about to reduce your risk of skin cancer,” Ms McMillan said.
“The good news is that skin cancer remains one of the most preventable types of cancer, so why not visit our pop-up store and incorporate SunSmart habits into your everyday life for maximum protection!”
Cancer Council Queensland’s retail stores offer retail therapy for a good cause, with all proceeds invested into cancer research, support and prevention programs in Queensland.
The pop-up store adds to a number of Cancer Council Queensland retail locations across the state, including a store at the charity’s Fortitude Valley offices in Brisbane, and an online store.
