Where there’s a Will, there’s a way

Cairns locals who want to help create a cancer free future by leaving a gift in their Will can now access Cancer Council Queensland’s Free Will Service thanks to a partnership between the charity and The Will and All.

To celebrate the service becoming available, Cancer Council Queensland’s Manager, Gifts in Wills, Phillip Hancock presented The Will and All with a certificate of appreciation last week.

Jeneve Frizzo, Principal, and Sally-Ann Hayward, Senior Associate of The Will and All, said the legal practice was proud to partner with Cancer Council Queensland, so the legacy of Cairns locals who are passionate about making a difference, can live on.

“Cancer affects everyone. Leaving a bequest to Cancer Council Queensland can make a big difference, supporting those with the disease and saving lives, so we are proud to partner with the charity and launch this service in Cairns,” Ms Frizzo said.

“Making a Will is part of a properly considered estate plan that ensures that your assets will go to the people and to the causes you choose, giving you peace of mind that your affairs are in order.”

Cancer Council Queensland’s Free Will Service is available to people intending to leave the charity a bequest and thanks to the support of community-minded law firms across the state has been operating in Queensland since 2009, with over 300 Wills written.

Through the service, Cancer Council Queensland provides referrals to qualified solicitors, who can help create, or update your existing Will. The cost of a basic Will is covered, however if a Will has detailed provisions that cause complex planning, the referred solicitor charges for the costs of preparing the Will at their usual scale of fees.
