Spice up your social life with chari-tea essentials

Cancer Council is calling on foodies and fundraisers to register for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in a bid to raise $2.8 million for cancer research and support in Queensland.

This year’s campaign features celebrity ambassadors such as Masterchef host Gary Mehigan and Queensland’s own Dominique Rizzo.

Cancer Council Queensland Fundraising Manager Scott Knoll urged Queensland food lovers to get involved and support the campaign.

“We’re thrilled to have the support of some wonderful celebrity ambassadors and VIP hosts around Queensland,” Mr Knoll said.

“This year a whole range of commemorative morning tea items are available for purchase, along with the official mug, the perfect accessory for Australia’s greatest home bakers.”

Queenslanders can purchase a limited edition 2016 mug for $10, with exclusive Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea aprons, wooden spoons, and tea towels also on sale for a charitable price.

“This year we are excited to bring our Biggest Morning Tea bakers a whole range of new recipes to bring their event to life in a delicious fashion,” Mr Knoll said.

“The 2016 campaign aims to capture aspiring foodies and our inspiring supporters to gather, share, and give, all for a special cause.”

May 26 is the official Biggest Morning Tea party date, but events can be held anytime throughout May or June.

“Our aim is to register more than 5800 morning tea hosts from around Queensland, many of whom will be taking part in honour of a loved one,” Mr Knoll said.

“There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea – to bring something new to the table.”

The official event day will be Thursday, May 26.
