Letter to the Editor – Take charge of your health and a cancer free future

Dear Editor,

This month, thousands of Queenslanders are charging through March by hitting the pavement to help beat cancer!

The March Charge, which reaches the halfway mark this week, challenges Queenslanders to run or walk throughout the month to improve their health and raise funds for Cancer Council.

To those taking part – we’re cheering you on! Whether you run 100km, or walk 30km throughout March, every step brings us closer to a cancer free future.

Funds raised through the campaign play a vital role in transforming cancer control in Queensland and give hope to those affected by cancer.

The March Charge is also an important opportunity to reflect on your own health and wellbeing.

More than 27,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in Queensland – you can help reduce your risk of cancer by getting active today.

At least one third of all cancers are preventable through healthy lifestyle choices including getting active, eating well, limiting alcohol, quitting smoking and staying SunSmart.

You don’t need to be an athlete to improve your health, or raise funds, all you need is a pair of running shoes and a dose of determination!

Give cancer a run for its money – and enlist your friends to join you.

There’s still time to register for The March Charge, or donate, at themarchcharge.com.au.
