Time for a cuppa to help beat cancer!

Set a date, gather your mates and pop the kettle on – it’s time to raise our cups and tip the balance in the fight against cancer as part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is enjoyed by more than a million people each year, and collectively over more than two decades of tea partying, the event has raised around $121 million for the fight against cancer.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said when it comes to beating cancer, we all have what it takes to help.

“Catching up with friends for a cuppa while donating a few coins might not seem like a big gesture – but it is – with the generous support of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraisers, Cancer Council has contributed over half a billion dollars to cancer research, prevention, support, research, advocacy and information services,” Ms Clift said.

“Getting involved is easy. Simply invite your friends, family or workmates to put the kettle on and get together to help beat cancer – you’ll be showing your support for the one in two Queenslanders who will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85.

“In Queensland, around 25,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year.

“This year, make your morning tea matter, whether it’s a coffee catch-up with the girls, an office morning tea or a school cake sale, you’ll make a big difference to the lives of thousands of Queenslanders affected by cancer each year.”

In 2014, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raised a tasty $11.9 million which helped fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and much needed support for cancer patients and their families.

This year, Cancer Council Queensland aims to raise $2.5 million to help fund even more life-changing work.
