Celebrity chef Alana Lowes calls on Queenslanders to raise their cups for cancer

Celebrity cook, TV presenter and writer, Alana Lowes will raise her cup and tip the balance in the fight against cancer this May as a Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea ambassador – and she’s sharing some delicious recipes to encourage Queenslanders to celebrate!

The local celebrity has joined the likes of Poh Ling Yeow, Dominique Rizzo and Matt Moran as a 2014 ambassador, committed to making every cup count in the fight against cancer.

The official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday, May 22 and more than 6,700 morning tea hosts from around Queensland will gather in living rooms, community centres, schools and workplaces to celebrate and raise more than $2.5 million for cancer research, education programs and patient support services.

Alana said it was a privilege to be involved with such a long-running campaign that supports Australians and their families diagnosed with cancer.

“I certainly don’t need any excuse to enjoy food and Australian’s Biggest Morning Tea brings together two of my favourite passions – eating and raising money for cancer research, prevention and patient support,” Alana said.

“I am so honoured and excited to be a part of this fantastic campaign and hope that my recipe will inspire you to host your own Biggest Morning Tea this year and help a wonderful charity!”

Alana has created an exclusive, mouth-watering recipe, Spicy Aussie Ham and Cheese Melt, for Queenslanders looking to impress their morning tea guests this May.
