Australians invited to Biggest Blogger Morning Tea!

Cancer Council is inviting bloggers across the country to help tip the balance in the fight against cancer this May as part of Australia’s Biggest Blogger Morning Tea!

Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday May 22, with more than 6700 Queensland hosts expected to raise more than $2.5 million for cancer research, education programs and patient support services in 2014.

One of Australia’s Top 40 Travel Bloggers, Phoebe Lee, of littlegreybox.net, is leading the charge for the Biggest Blogger Morning Tea, encouraging other online writers to get involved.

“Cancer Council is a fantastic charity and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is such a fun and accessible way to raise funds for Queenslanders touched by cancer,” Ms Lee said.

“One in two Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This is such an important cause, and using our blogs to raise awareness on social media is crucial.

“You get to drink coffee and eat cake too – why wouldn’t you be involved?!”

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said getting involved in Australia’s Biggest Blogger Morning Tea was simple!

“There are a range of ways you can log online and support Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea!” Ms Clift said.

“It might be dedicating a blog post to the campaign or sharing links via social media and encouraging others to host or attend a morning tea.

“All online activity goes a long way in helping us raise awareness about cancer, and vital funds to help all Queenslanders.

“You could even invite your blogging community to take part in a virtual morning tea – everyone enjoying baked goods and a cup of tea around the computer at the same time, sharing their stories via an online forum.

“However you socially support Australia’s Biggest Blogger Morning Tea – every post, like and share makes a huge difference in the fight against cancer.”

All Queenslanders are invited to raise their cups and join the tea party, celebrating the 21st year of Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday, May 22 but events can be held anytime throughout May or June.

All funds raised will support Cancer Council Queensland’s vital work in cancer research, education and support programs.
