Cale
Relay For Life Volunteer
I’m determined to make a difference.
After losing his mum to cancer, Cale found volunteering for CCQ to be an important part of the healing process. Attending his first Relay For Life in 2009 served as the catalyst for his volunteering career, and since then he has seized every opportunity that has come his way.
Stephanie
Branch Member
I’m fighting back against cancer
Having fought off the bowel cancer she was diagnosed with at 21, Stephanie’s eyes are on a cancer-free future. As a volunteer she has been involved in the Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day and Pink Ribbon Day, but her favourite event remains Relay for Life.
Mena
Cancer Connect Volunteer
To make someone’s journey
the best it can be
Mena shares the knowledge of her personal cancer journey and how to access the support offered by CCQ with others, offering a shoulder and a listening ear to those who need it. She volunteers with the hope of having a world free of cancer, but in the meantime is satisfied knowing she can help others.
Bruce
Relay For Life Volunteer
The gift of giving is very rewarding
Bruce’s passion for volunteering stems from the loss of his brother to sinus cancer in 1994. His brother was greatly helped by CCQ and said he would spend the rest of his life volunteering, a sentiment that inspired Bruce to take up the campaign in his name.
Theresa
Legal Volunteer
To gain a different perspective on life
When Theresa applied for a volunteer role as something to do during university break, she wasn’t expecting to receive the career boost she has over the past two years.
