Thanks to our volunteers for making 2015 another successful year! Your support and dedication continues to be amazing, and we’re so excited to show you just how massive our impact has been!
Highlights include:
- 2,200 wigs and turbans provided to cancer patients who had lost their hair due to cancer treatment. Hair loss can be one of the most distressing side effects of cancer treatment. This service is staffed and equipped by passionate volunteers and donors who dedicate their time energy and goodwill to help those in need.
- The Queensland government announced the introduction of comprehensive new laws to help eliminate smoking in public places, positioning Queensland as the world’s most progressive jurisdiction on tobacco control. This is another significant advocacy achievement for CCQ and another demonstration of the importance of the role of Cancer Councils have in influencing momentous public health initiatives.
- $14 million invested in cancer research, making us the largest community based funder of cancer research in Queensland.
- Our cancer support and information service 13 11 20 responded to 19,400 calls. It’s through this service that we touch the lives of people with cancer and those who support them; including loved ones, health professionals and communities.
We wouldn’t have the reach and impact that we do across Queensland without our family of volunteers and supporters. It’s your energy, commitment and dedication that brings us closer to a cancer free future.
