Still time to go dry throughout July

Hundreds of Queenslanders have put their drinks down and gone booze-free this month in a strong show of support for Queensland cancer patients!

There’s still time to join Dry July this month and swap your cocktail for a mocktail to make a difference.

Participants can pledge to go dry and at the same time raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland, a beneficiary of the event.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan put the challenge to Queenslanders to go booze-free for the remainder of the month.

“Dry July is a great way to raise funds for an important issue, and challenge yourself to give up booze for July,” Ms McMillan said.

“The initiative not only benefits your health by enabling your body to detox, but significantly benefits the lives of those affected by cancer.

“Everyone who goes booze-free will be rewarded with a great sense of achievement and improved wellbeing.”

Funds raised from Dry July directly benefit Australians affected by cancer in real and tangible ways, providing funds to create better environments and support networks for patients and their families.

“Every drink you give up and every dollar you raise helps ease the burden of cancer in our communities, and supporting those in a time of need,” Ms McMillan said.

“There’s still time to get involved – challenge your friends and family to go dry too, or support your efforts.

“The simple gesture of giving up alcohol to fundraise gives hope to more than 27,000 Queenslanders diagnosed with cancer each year.”

Dry Julyers are supported by an online community of participants, ambassadors and partners providing advice, help and encouragement throughout the challenge.
