Take a tea break to support Queensland cancer patients

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Pop the kettle on and fill your cups, Queensland – there’s still time to make every tea bag count in our fight against cancer!

Queenslanders can tea-up and host an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea any time before June 30, to help raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland’s work in research, prevention and support.

This year more than 4900 Queenslanders have hosted a charity morning tea and raised more than $1.5 million for the cause – but we still need your support.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Ms Chris McMillan encouraged friends, community groups and workplaces to raise their cups this June.

“One Queenslander is diagnosed with cancer every 20 minutes – the time of an average tea break,” Ms McMillan said.

“You can make a difference and show your support for those diagnosed by turning your tea break into a fundraiser.

“An Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea can be as simple as catching up for a cuppa with friends at a local cafe, hosting a bake sale or even a themed morning tea at work.

“All funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea support our work right across the state, ensuring that Queenslanders impacted by cancer have the support and care they need.

“Every cup poured offers much-needed hope to cancer patients, carers and loved ones affected by the disease.

“Will you tea-up for the cause? Whether you enjoy an english breakfast tea, early grey, peppermint tea or something more fruity – every cup counts!”

This year Cancer Council Queensland hopes to raise more than $2.5 million for cancer research, prevention and support through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
