Get involved and help Queenslanders living with cancer by volunteering. Volunteers are the heart of our organisation. Join us to make a greater impact and connect with like-minded people.
Every contribution helps support those living with cancer. Whether a one-off donation or monthly gift, your support ensures funding stability for long-term goals and future generations.
Leave a legacy by including a gift in your Will, starting a tribute page for a loved one, or funding a research grant for early-career cancer researchers driving clinical innovations.
Organise a fundraising event in your community, either as a team or an individual. You can join one of our existing fundraising events or you might like to come up with your own way.
When organisations work together, we can have a greater impact for every Queenslander going through cancer and help amplify our message for all Australians.
However you get involved, you’re making a direct impact on the lives of Queenslanders affected by cancer. See the results of what we’ve all achieved.
The Viertel Charitable Foundation, established in 1992 following the passing of Mr Charles Viertel, prominent Queensland investor and philanthropist, has made a significant and ongoing commitment to Cancer Council Queensland in support of the Viertel Cancer Research Centre. This support has provided the necessary and solid underpinning required to build and sustain research excellence in cancer, that in turn has improved outcomes for all people affected by cancer. Over the past 20 years, the work of the Viertel Cancer Research Centre has had a significant impact on cancer control. These impacts include enhanced state-wide cancer care services for psychological support; contributions to national clinical guidelines for melanoma management, and psychosocial care of advanced prostate cancer; community guidelines on sun exposure, vitamin D and skin cancer risk; evidence to inform changes in public policy to reduce smoking prevalence; evidence of the accuracy of skin cancer diagnosis by skin cancer clinics; provision of National Cancer Control Indicators for childhood cancer, and more, as detailed in our annual reports.
Cancer Council Queensland gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Sylvia and Charles Viertel Charitable Foundation and the Foundation Trustees.
