Caring for Our Community – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Course

In 2017 and 2018 Cancer Council Queensland provided courses for Queensland based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people working in the health field. Courses were held in Rockhampton, Napranum, Bundaberg and Townsville in 2017, and Toowoomba, Cairns, Brisbane, Mount Isa and Springfield in 2018. In 2019, courses are being held in Thursday Island (completed), Mackay (completed), Cunnamulla (completed) and Brisbane.

These two-day courses provide information on cancer and cancer treatment, the prevention, screening and early detection of cancer and end of life care.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers and other health professionals can register for this course by completing the application package and emailing it to healthpros@cancerqld.org.au.

To support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers to attend the Caring for Our Community course, Cancer Council Queensland has travel assistance available. To find out more or to apply to see the travel assistance package for the relevant course.
