Meet our people

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Cancer Council careers give you the opportunity to channel your passion into something bigger – and you won’t find people more passionate than ours.

Additional benefits of Cancer Council careers

Apart from having the opportunity to work with a passionate team and make a difference in the lives of Queenslanders dealing with cancer, and their families, there are also some other great benefits to working with Cancer Council Queensland.

Salary packaging

Take advantage of attractive salary packaging options with your Cancer Council job. Salary packaging lets you pay for certain expenses – things like your mortgage or rent, your child’s school fees, even eating out and holidays – before you’re taxed. This means you could pay less tax and have more spending money freed up for the things you want.

Work-life balance

We believe to help others, it’s important you also take care of yourself. It’s true when you’re caring for someone with cancer, and it’s true when you’re working in a Cancer Council job. As a result, we’re committed to flexibility and ensuring our employees have a sustainable work-life balance.

Development

Our goal setting and performance review program is focused on individual achievement and development. It aims to inspire you to consider how you would like to grow in your role or within your not-for-profit career.

Promoting health

We understand how important it is to protect your health – perhaps more than most employers. We want to support all Queenslanders to reduce their cancer risk and optimise their health, and that includes our staff. Cancer Council Queensland staff receive a discount at our online retail store, as well as the chance to participate in our Healthy Workplace activities, and gain access to health programs we offer.

Employee assistance program

Confidential counselling and wellbeing support services, as well as personal coaching, is available through our EAP to all employees during their Cancer Council careers. The ongoing emotional wellbeing of our team is vitally important to us, and something we try to protect at all costs.

Paid parental leave

Our paid parental leave policy ensures all staff who have been with us for 12 months or longer will receive 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
