Sarina Relay For Life postponed due to weather

Teams in the Sarina Relay For Life will now have more time to fundraise, following postponement of the event due to Cyclone Debbie.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO, Ms Chris McMillan, said a new date for the Relay would be announced in coming days.

“While we’re disappointed that the event won’t be going ahead as planned this weekend, we’ll work with the Organising Committee to find another date,” Ms McMillan said.

“We thank the community for their understanding and support, and encourage teams to continue their fundraising.”

Relay For Life participants can phone Cancer Council’s Fundraising Hotline 1300 65 65 85 for more information.

Sarina Relay For Life is an 18 hour event involving teams of up to 15 people moving in a relay style walk or run overnight, to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland.

This year the event will celebrate its 10 year anniversary.

“More than 200 participants are registered to take part in the event and have raised more than $21,500 for the cause,” Ms McMillan said.

“The support of the community has been phenomenal and we look forward to Relaying with teams later this year.”
