Caring for Our Community – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Course

In 2017 and 2018 Cancer Council Queensland provided courses for Queensland based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people working in the health field. Courses were held in Rockhampton, Napranum, Bundaberg and Townsville in 2017, and Toowoomba, Cairns, Brisbane, Mount Isa and Springfield in 2018.

These two-day courses provided information on cancer and cancer treatment, the prevention, screening and early detection of cancer, and end of life care.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workers were encouraged to register to become members of the Health Professional Cancer Network. The network will provide regular updates on cancer information resources and programs, research and professional development opportunities.
