Cancer Council Queensland Shade Project Terms and Conditions

Participating organisation eligibility and responsibilities:

  • Applying for this Portable Shade Project (the “Project”) is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  • All parts of the application are to be completed and accurate at the time of filling in the application. Any application that is late or incomplete will not be considered.
  • The closing date for applications is 28 February 2022 at 11.59am AEST. Successful applicants will be notified by email using the contact details on the organisation’s application form.
  • Should the organisation’s contact details change during the application period it is the organisation’s responsibility to notify Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ). A request to access or modify any information provided in an application should be directed to
  • Should the application be successful, the organisation agrees to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable CCQ promotional and media requests relating to the Project, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed and/or filmed. The organisation agrees to CCQ from time to time using its name, image and/or performance in this Project for any purpose (including publicity, merchandising, editorial, education and fundraising) in any country and by any form of media without qualification (e.g. newspapers, magazines, other print publications, radio and television broadcasts, websites, podcasts, and vodcasts) in perpetuity.
  • If the application is successful, the organisation agrees that it will acknowledge CCQ’s support in any promotion of this Project that is conducted and that such promotion will be in accordance with any brand guidelines and/or promotion requirements that are advised by CCQ.
  • The organisation confirms:
    • it has submitted only one application in 2021/22 per site – this includes schools or Outside School Hours Care that are located on the same premises;
    • it is a not-for-profit organisation (proof will be required);
    • it provides services to children aged 0-18 years in Queensland;
    • it has a current sun protection policy that has been written by the organisation and reflects the organisation’s actions. The policy has been uploaded with the application;
    • it has provided a letter of support from senior management, including endorsement of the sun protection action plan with. The letter of support has been uploaded with the application.
    • The organisation will be required to participate in the post-Project survey to measure the impact the Project has had on improving sun safety activities in their organisation.
    • To the fullest extent permitted by law, the organisation releases and indemnifies CCQ, its directors, employees and agents from and against any and all claims arising in relation to any injury (including death), property damage, consequential loss and any other loss, that is suffered by them or any person claiming through them as a direct or indirect result of their participation in the Project, regardless of whether such loss arises under statute or in tort including the negligence of CCQ or otherwise.

Considerations for successful organisations

The organisation understands and accepts:

  • CCQ accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected mail or electronic communication.
  • CCQ reserves the right to disqualify any application at any time at its absolute discretion. CCQ will not enter into any correspondence regarding unsuccessful applications.
  • CCQ reserves the right to invalidate any entry which it considers to be in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
  • The organisation can apply for one new 3x3m portable shade structure (Marquee) per location.
  • CCQ will pay 100 percent of the total cost of the Marquee.
  • The organisation understands that successful applicants will be provided with a Marquee by CCQ through CCQ’s preferred supplier, Star Outdoor. The organisation accepts that choice of colour of the Marquee is not permitted, and the CCQ logo will be included on every Marquee.
  • CCQ will not pay for additional branding or extra screen printing. This can be by arranged between the organisation and Star Outdoor at the organisation’s own cost
  • CCQ’s preferred supplier, Star Outdoor will deliver all Marquees to the organisation’s address. If the organisation is an island-based organisation it understands that Star Outdoor will deliver to the port of choice (as agreed with Star Outdoor), and it is the organisation’s responsibility to collect it from there.
  • The Marquee and any items provided with the Marquee become the property of the organisation upon delivery. The organisation understands that ongoing maintenance is its responsibility, and it will contact Star Outdoor with any defect or warranty claims.
  • CCQ’s decision is final and it will not enter into correspondence regarding unsuccessful applications.

Successful applicants will have their Personal Information provided to The Trustee for the Star Marquees Trust trading as Star Marquees (Star Outdoor) so that they may organise delivery of a Marquee. We may send you information about programs, products, services, fundraising or other activities which we think may interest you. Your Personal Information may be provided to third parties where required by law or so that such third parties may provide Cancer Council with services. In so doing your Personal Information may be disclosed to overseas recipients. By providing your information to us you consent to your information being disclosed or used for this purpose. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that such third parties deal with your information appropriately and only for Cancer Council purposes.
