Privacy Collection Statement for Research Survey Competition

Your privacy is important.

We take privacy seriously. We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information.

Who are you giving your information to?

Your personal information is being, or has been, collected by Cancer Council Queensland (ACN 009 784 356) (“Cancer Council”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

Where do we get your information from?

As much as possible, we will collect your information directly from you. We also obtain personal information from other people and organisations. If we collect your information from someone else and it is unclear that you have consented to the disclosure of your personal information to us, we will try to let you know that we have received your information and how.

Why are we collecting your information?

We are collecting your personal information so that we may contact you if you are a winner of the competition.

What happens if we do not receive your information?

If you choose not to give us the personal information we request from you, we will not be able to contact you if you are a winner of the competition.

Who do we share your information with?

We may share your personal information with other people and organisations so that they can provide Cancer Council with services or when we are required to do so by law. If we share your personal information with others, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that they deal with your personal information appropriately.

Sometimes we will disclose your personal information to other people and organisations who are not in Australia. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients do not breach the Australian Privacy Principles. By providing your personal information, you consent to this disclosure and acknowledge that if these overseas recipients handle your personal information in a way that breaches the Australian Privacy Principles, neither they nor we will be accountable under the Privacy Act. This means you will not be able seek redress under the Privacy Act. Please refer to the section of our Privacy Policy on our website that deals with offshore disclosures for further details.

If you do not agree to the transfer of your personal information overseas, please contact our Data Services department using the contact details set out below. Please note that you may not be able to enter the competition if you elect not to have your personal information transferred overseas.
